Beatrice-and-Otis

Both these dogs were picked up by dog catchers on the outskirts of Quebec city in Sainte-Marie. No one claimed them and they were going to be euthanized. Crazy me brought them to Montreal.

The female Chow chow/ Golden mix, nicknamed Beatrice (on the left), is on the fearful side and I would like to make an attempt to find the owners once again. She is about 2 years old. She wants to be loved with all her heart and she has chase/attitude problems that I am working on. She looks like she may have lived in a garage or barn or something. She was pretty dirty. I think she may have been roaming for a while. She had no collar. I washed her and brushed her.

The male, nicknamed Otis, is a Husky, Akita, Lab mix??? He is about a year old and is very friendly and easy. He had a choker on him. I need to put these dogs up for adoption but am posting here thinking maybe someone might check it out. I cannot keep these dogs for too long. I have 4 in my home right now and have started doing vet work on them and need them placed.

I don’t know if any of this will help to find their owners but hey it is good to try. If something would come out of this it would be great. In the meantime I need homes for them.

UPDATE NOV 24TH : Loulou was able to find the very handsome “Otis” a new home, after trying unsuccessfully to find his original owners.

She did however find the owners of “Beatrice” on the left, and discovered her name was “Princess Jade”  but unfortunately, it seems there’s no interest in getting her back. She seems to have been some kind of truck dog, and Loulou is working on her “Metropolitan mutt manners.” She’s showing improvement, but needs a new home soon, with someone willing to work with her. She’s young, and only wants love.

UPDATE JAN 31ST : The lovely Beatrice desperately needs a new home. You can read all about her here as well.

UPDATE FEB 16TH : Beatrice finally gets a home after 3 and a 1/2 long months, thanks to the hard work and dedication of Loulou!

Way to go girl! Congrats for all your hard work, your generosity and your patience. I’m bowing down to you, loulou.

    • Loulou says:

No bowing, everyone just keep trying. I thank the guy that took her. He loves her and she obviously is happy. I thank all those that make an effort and for those who know how much it costs to keep and care for an animal. It was definitely a challenge especially at first. I wasn’t sure that I could pull it off. I cried more than once ha! Now I have a young mother cat and her 6 3 week old babies. Another crazy story. It seems like the Universe is sending them here so I must find a way to make it work.

Thanks for being nice to me Isabelle it does help to erase the mean comments people sometimes make because they don’t understand.

Oh my I just erased the whole comment I wrote my mistake. Uh! Beatrice is still here after more than 2 months. She has really improved and her fur is so pretty. My hard work is paying off but I really need to find her a home. A nice tall loner kind of guy that will be her best friend. They can take nice strolls through the park at night and he would be the leader type that would make her feel protected and less wary of other dogs. She now has a stuffed Golden retriever guarding the door of her room. That’s my dog psychology at work. She used to snarl at it and try to smell his bum. Now he is her best friend. Ha! My friends think I am funny but I everything to make dogs better. Please ask around and have peopel contact me if they are interseted. I think she is fixed and she seems quite healthy.. I take good care of her anyway. She sits, gives the paw never jumps up, is totally housetrained and never ever breaks or chews anything. She is still prey driven but you can talk her out of it now. How’s that for progress. :)

      HI Loulou,
Happy New Years! As usual you do have a lot on your plate. But once again, what a terrific job you’re doing. Here’s hoping that she finds her new home soon!

      • Loulou says:

        Thank you Petluck,

I am a bit overwhelmed, my car broke down 460$ repair, lots of pet expenses and I keep seeing that longhaired tabby and it breaks my heart. I believe in miracles I am just a bit stressed. I hope something happens soon as I need to give myself some time and care.

I hope that you are really doing well. Thanks for the good wishes.

        Loulou

Happy new years. It is now January and I have had Beatrice for soemthing like two months. Sometimes people come to walk her but I mostly do everything myself. I really need to find her a home. If people could ask around and I will just start a blitz and ask teh Universe to send her new parent to me I would be very happy. I keep seperated from the other dogs just to be safe and she is really doing better just from having stability and more socialization and my efforts to train her. Her coat is really healthy looking and a lot of people find her beautiful. The best would be someone who knows and loves Chow chow type dogs. A firm but kind person. She loves people except for drunk or intoxiacted types and she is beginning to want to do more. She deserves it. Someone with a yard and sometiem to teach her to play more. She loves to pounce around and wag her tail and give her paw. Big difference from when I first got her. I see Bearice with a tall handsome serious guy that is a bit of a loner where he and she can bond and be happy walking down the street doing their own thing. She will feel secure and he will be her best freind and keep her in her place. She is very affectionate and just awants to meet everyone. Animals you have to check and supervise. She would do best in a home with no otehr animals. I also need to concentrate on 2 other siutations where a dog needs to be rehomed and a home needs to be checked where one other dog is and I think not getting the best it should.

Beatrice is still with me. I think it is a month now. She has greatly improved. I believe this dog never had any comfort. I gave her her own blankets and pillow and you can tell she feel like a queen. I have also been working really hard on making her less prey driven and not so worked up about dogs. We even took her out with my dogs and she was pretty good. I gave her a life sized Golden puppy. About the size of a 4 month old and it was reallly funny to see how she reacted. I leave it with her now and I get it to guard the door so that she can feel that it’s not her job to check things out all the time. This dog is very sweet at home but does need an experienced dog owner. She is looking better and better all the time. I hope to find someone soon. She is totally housetrained and is actually very quiet. She likes to play with me but has no experience with toys. Really sad she most likely never played. I gave her the name Beatrice and it means “she brings me joy”.

      Hi Loulou,

You’re doing such a good job with her. I’m happy to hear you’ve been able to stick with it, with all you’ve got going on!

    • Isabelle says:

Hello Loulou, on behalf of all animal lovers, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for what you’ve been doing for that little soul. Best regards.

  5. Loulou says:

Beatrice is getting more at ease with being in the city and realzing that she doesn’t need to get all excited about every animal that passes by (fear based). I seriously think someone let her lose for her to have a better life and that is why they have not responded to my asking for more info on where to return her. One woman is posting across Canada to have her adopted and I have her in the meantime. She needs her own home where she can rehabilitate and adapt even more than she is here. If you would be interested in meeting her please let me know. This would be a longterm project and you would need to be an experienced dog person. She is housetrained, quiet and loves to go outside. Everything is new to her in the city. Her tail is always wagging even if we are just standing on the sidewalk.
