Star – safe and sound!!!

Star

Shih Tzu poodle mix, lost in Brossard on May 21st. Last seen at corner of MEILLEUR and MONDOR. She can be anywhere even brought to Montreal by now. We need your help to find her. She has lived her life in a cage before we rescued her. She may be scared and try to run away if found!

UPDATE DEC 9TH 2010 : Unbelievably, Star has finally been caught. She had eluded capture for months and had been in a field all this time! I hope that her future will be far brighter than her past! She deserves to be a shining Star!

HI everyone, star/chloe’s story is quite remarkable! she was rescued from a puppy mill where she lived 2 years in a cage. she was placed safely in foster home but was very skittish with people. even though the foster’s backyard was securely fenced a noise spooked her and she escaped under only a couple of inches under the fence in may. we tried everyday to find her to no avail. we posted pictures handed out flyers and checked the municipal pounds.finally we started hearing news of her sightings in august that she was living in a very large field and we started knocking on doors and montoring the area. one week we heard of a few sightings so we set up a team of volunteers to monitor the area throughout the day. all the volunteers were very dedicated and devoted to finding her. we literally tried to find her around the clock and sure enough she popped up! i personally was there until 4am one night and saw her, we put down food and tried to approach her but she was too skittish she would run away. we would stay quiet and wait for her to come back to the food and finally she would so we kept trying to capture her she was one fast dog let me assure you she was IMPOSSIBLE to catch! we were so close at one moment and tried to corner her but she escaped under a fence again she was so freaked out she never came back to the area. we kept monitoring the area but she never returned. we put up trap cages with food but she never returned. we still never gave up but there were no sightings of her and we had no idea what happened to her. finally in november we started hearing sightings of her again but in a different area. apparently she had moved and wasnt too far from tascherue which is a very busy boulevard. we started monitoring the area again different groups of volunteers but to no avail once again. we kept hearing from some kind people in the neighborhood that they were seeing her so we knocked on more doors but no luck finding her but we had many people in neighborhood looking out for her. there was a lady who kept seeing her and feeding her but no one could catch her she woudl bolt if you approached her. finally on dec 7th a man walking his dog saw her and his dog cornered her and caught her! thanks to amr knowing we were looking for her they called us right away and we took her in within an hour and she was brought to our volunteers to foster her but she fell so inlove with her she adopted her right away!!!! whats amazing is that she is a tiny 10lbs dog who survived from may until dec in all elements of weather from extreme heat to freezing weather, she escaped being hit by cars as she was in a very busy area and travelled through very busy streets as she moved areas. she fended for herself survived predators! thankfully she was sterilized week before she disappeared so thankfully she didnt end up pregnant! she is a true miracle and was found the day of the first bug snow storm. we all prayed everyday that she would be found before winter and our dreams came true shes safe and vet gives her clean bill of health! so dont give up if you lose your animal because if chloe survived after 6 months and after never seeing outside of a cage her whole life before that, then any animal can survive just dont give up hope on them and keep actively searching even if its months later put up flyers and dont forget check with the municipal pounds in your area every day! good news is because of star we searched municipal pounds in her area every day for quite awhile and developped a relationship with a municipal pound because of it and because of chloe we saved over 500 lives since may that would have been killed instead! so all the way around this was truly a remarkable miracle that occured with chloe safe and so many other lives saved because of searching for her! thanks everyone who helped make this possible!

    A very good news!
At least she’s out of the cold now and heading to a new chapter in her life.

      Hi Isabelle,

Crazy, isn’t it? She is a Paws for Life dog, but the post was forwarded to me by a caring soul in the neighbourhood who had offered to help poster and whatnot. I don’t have all the details but know she was just captured. She had been staying in a field but was being thrown food all this time apparently. Poor baby!
