Hi and welcome to my blog. I’m a Montreal pet owner trying a new experiment. Last summer we had a string of cat thefts in the alleys of our city. There was a lot of buzz but as far as I know, very little, if any media coverage. It’s a bit of a dilemma because in theory the cats should be confined and many are criticized for letting their cats out in the first place. Nobody really talks about the catnappings and now summer is upon us I see the rise in missing animals. Some who are losing their pets this summer might not have heard of the bizarre cases of last year. When it first happened in my neighbourhood last year I spoke with a local pet shop about it and discovered that the same exact thing had happened in his area the year before. The subject got hot, the people banded together to watch each others cats, and the catnappers went somewhere else.
This blog is not a forum for debate, however. I thought it would be useful to have a tool to track missing pets and hopefully help relocate them.
I see people still looking for their missing cats and dogs as much as two years later and I know it’s difficult not to have closure. With the help of google maps I’m hoping to keep track of lost pets and have updates as to whether or not they’re still missing or not. The city is littered with posters and we never know which were reunited and which were never found. Cats can survive for long periods in the outdoors, and so a cat found months later will be more unlikely to be reunited, as posters are usually long gone.
I’m hoping also to share all possible links to where you should post your missing pet on the internet. If you send me your story I can post it here, and put the location on the map. Comments will be left open but any passing of judgement will not be tolerated, so be warned. I know that the subject can become volatile and I don’t wish to enter into that arena.

Thanks so much. I’m really glad you like the site!
you have another site for lost and found animals too:
http://www.rapt-lfpn.org
Hi Christiana,
I do have them under “lost and found pet network” Thanks!
Hi Patrick
I meant to say add a date for the ‘comments’. Also, I will be sending your e-addy to all my contacts – animal activists, rescues, etc. Be prepared…. LOL
Maybe someone can help you add the link to ‘register’? It would ease your workload.
Carol
Hi again Carol,
I don’t know if you wrote this before or after my email:) Thanks, but I don’t want to add the register function as the site won’t be as well organized. The best help is for the post to be sent in French and English:)
edit: and by the way it’s Petluck not Patrick:))
Just another thought. How about adding the date for the posts?
Thanks!
Carol
Hi
I am an animal activist & volunteer. I get many alerts for losts pets. I am very happy that you have created this site and am looking forward to your help.
I don’t see a link to register on your site. Did I miss it?
Thanks so much!
Carol Waterman
Hi Carol
I’m very happy that you found me! You didn’t miss the link…I don’t have a way to register.
Went to SPCA today to check for missing kittys (mine included).. didn’t see anyone that looked familiar but I really hope all the families of these pets are vigilant about going there to search for their babies!! It is very important. Wishing everyone good luck in finding their family members!! I wish I could find my kitty Neutron!
It’s nice of you to check for the others while you’re there.
Your site is super mega cool awesome, but… I can’t find an email address or form to fill out to send you the info on my missing Mr Man!
Perhaps a more prominent indication on the front page would be useful…
thanks!
Dominique
Hi Dominique
I’ll fix that right away. In the meantime your info can be sent to petluckblog@gmail.com.
Please include your contact info too and I’m glad you like the site!
