Boris

Reward $100

Please contact me if you have seen a small gray cat (Russian Blue breed = gray/blue fur). Large green eyes. Male. Fixed. No collar. 9 years old. Boris is timid and not used to being outside for long periods of time. If he is still outdoors he is probably hungry and panicked. Missing since Sunday May 17. Point of departure Saint-Urbain/Fairmount he but could be much further away by now. Any info much appreciated. Reward if you find him or have info that leads to him being found. I would be very grateful if you could check your back yards and sheds. Thank you, Anna

If at all possible, and in the interest of speeding up submissions, bilingual submissions are much appreciated! I understand if you’re not able but any help is appreciated. I believe the site will be a smashing success. I started it in the hopes of making a difference, and I love a great idea; it’s strength being also that its target is local. But in the meantime it’s a project borne of love and there’s no money in the budget for a translator! Hopefully I’ll transition it to fully bilingual in the future. Think of your submissions as you would the poster you might put up!

Thanks!

ps: Please give me about a day max to get your ads up.

Rocks

Goes by: Max, Rocks, Mr. Man, bubbeh, bubs, kitteh, le chat gris (so, doesn’t really answer to anything)
Last seen: Monday, May 11, on de la Visitation Street between Sherbrooke and Ontario.
Physical characteristics : Shiny, grey, short hair; flappy, hanging belly. 2 years old. Signs of frostbite on tips of ears. Gold eyes with green around the pupils. Probably wasn’t wearing his collar because he loses it instantly. Is microchipped.

Character : *extremely* gregarious, not afraid of people whatsoever. Has gone into everyone’s house in the neighourhood, hangs out at other people’s homes. Doesn’t talk or purr much, but does a little miaow-slash-bark when he knows I’m nearby and he wants my attention. Sometimes nips at ankles when he wants out. Amazing animal that everyone in the neighbourhood knew and loved. Starting to lose hope… His lil brother misses him! Thanks.

My cat has been missing since January 13.09. He’s a Maine Coon, black and brown striped, 5 years old and neutered. He was last seen leaving our home on Rue Des Erables and Milton in Lachine. He is dearly missed by our family and his sister.

I can be reached at 514-484-0336. If I’m not home. please leave a detailed message. Thank you

I’ve been getting really positive feedback so far on the Petluck blog as well as some really good advice. As well as checking the sites I’ve listed it’s a good idea to put notices in your local veterinary hospitals and see if they’ve maybe been brought in to be examined., and check with shelters and rescues to see if anyone has turned in your animal there,

I received a nice email from Nancy at the Hôpital Vétérinaire Lasalle who along with some new links that I’ve added on the side, has offered some good information for people in that area. Below is a part of the message she sent.

I work at Hôpital Vétérinaire Lasalle where we are also the collection center for strays, surrendered, abandoned and unclaimed cats and dogs. If you receive an email of someone who has lost a cat or a dog in the Lasalle, Verdun or Lachine area, would you be kind enough to direct them to us as we may have their pets. They can contact me at 514-607-7711. When dogs are not claimed, they are transferred to non profit rescue organizations for adoption and unclaimed cats are put up for adoption on our petfinder webpage petfinder.com/shelters/QC51.html and others transferred to other non profit organizations.

I will always keep looking for their little faces in the lost section of classifieds but that would really help if you could tell about our existence.

I always look for lost pets hoping to find the owners of our homeless pets but I find that many people just don’t know where to look and end up giving up looking. We have unclaimed cats sterilized and declawed! I just can’t believe that nobody is coming for them!

Thanks for the great advice Nancy!

Neutron

My cat Neut (Neutron) went missing in the Verdun area of Lasalle Blvd/Caisse and Atwater streets area on April 28th. I am still looking for him. He is a domestic tabby (short haired) gray and tan (white paws) with white leaf shape on bridge of nose and  very affectionate.  He is neutered and is approximately 11 months old going on 1 year. We’ve been searching for him for a long time and we miss him very much. Please contact me if you have seen my cat. Thank you.

I’m hoping to provide a good tool for reuniting lost and found pets with their owners. Send the information on the pet you’ve lost or found to petluckblog[at] gmail[dot] com with a picture (jpeg) if possible and any details, and I’ll publish it for you here. I’ll need, of course, the closest address to place it on the map. (If possible, a postal code works really well!)

I also wanted to provide information on useful links where you might also think about listing. As well as putting up posters and checking shelters there are many places to list and not everyone’s familiar with them all. Please feel free to send me any useful links that I might miss. You’ll find them on the tips and links page. I’m hoping that the site will stay as up to date as possible, and that even when you’re posters are down and listings dropped down further on the classifieds sites, your pet will stay on the map till you’re hopefully reunited.

The only thing I ask in return for this service is that you keep me informed if you find your pet, or if you found the home of the animal you took in. It’s important that the blog be as up to date as possible, for it to be most effective. And besides, I’d love to know how things turned out, as would many of my readers!

IMPORTANT : On the links page I have included those to city shelters. The Montreal SPCA has a blog where they post their strays, including pets being held by the people who found them. A.M.R. also has a page for their strays. Berger Blanc, unfortunately, does not publish their strays, and the user submitted lost and found page is closed at the moment. In any case, it’s very important to physically go and check the shelters. Animals are often only kept for 3-5 days depending on their age, condition, and time of year, and if unclaimed they are then either euthanized or put up for adoption. For various reasons your pet might not end up at the shelter serving your area, so check all. It’s not enough to call them. Even if your pet has tags, this doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be notified. It’s best to act as though your pet didn’t have any identification when conducting your search. Also take note, Berger Blanc does not have a microchip scanner. And please realize it could be many months before your pet shows up !
