German shepherd found in Parc Lafontaine – brought to Berger Blanc!

dog-x

German shepherd, (black face), unclaimed, seems to be about 3 years old, and possibly injured on his back paw, found in the dog park on Monday, March 21st, id number 1831 at Berger Blanc. They will keep him until Friday.

UPDATE – MARCH 26 : This lucky dog was picked back up from Berger Blanc when it was learned he was in danger. He’s now in the care of Gerdy’s Rescues and Adoptions. I’m quite sure if Berger Blanc would be more transparent about their operations, a lot more animals would be safe.

Cat found in Pointe-Claire

cat found in Pointe-Claire

We have a small black and white female cat that was found in the area around Stillview in Pointe-Claire. The cat would have been lost in Feb or early March; we took her from the person who found her but could not keep her. She is being well looked after at our home in Beaconsfield but we need to find her owner or another home.

We can be reached at this email, at , or at 514-426-0822 x2003.

Cat found in Mercier

cat-x

I found a young black female cat (around 6-12 months) at the corner of Desjardins and Rouen in Mercier. She looks like she has been abandoned but I am trying to find her owner (just in case). I am not providing a picture (as per the SPCA’s recommendation) since I will ask for a picture to ensure that I am finding the right owner.

If I cannot find an owner, I will either take her in or found a new owner.

Two dogs found in LaSalle

dogs found in Lasalle

On March 16 morning, I found two dogs running free at the corner of Newman Bld & Guy Bouchard in Lasalle. They looked lost. I asked around in the neighborhood but no one recognized them. I took them home, gave food and water. They are well behaved. Then I had to leave for work and called the city, they came and picked up the dogs. I checked later and no one has claimed them as of now (1.5 days later).

They are now in the care of the LaSalle Veterinary Hospital :

7755 Bouvier
LaSalle, QC H8N 2G6
Phone: 514-365-6880

UPDATE – MARCH 22ND : Unfortunately, no one has come forward to claim these two babies, so they’ll be up for adoption at the end of the week. The husky is a male, while the other is a female, and is a rottweiler/boxer mix. They are both thought to be quite young, are well behaved, and obey commands. Hopefully they won’t have to wait too long to be adopted.

UPDATE – MARCH 31ST : Still at the Lasalle Veterinary Hospital, and looking for a new home, hopefully together. They’re listed as Balto and Ruby on Petfinder.

UPDATE – JUNE 7TH : After months of actively trying to place Balto and Ruby with no luck, the Lasalle Veterinary Hospital have worked with The Centre d’adoption d’animaux de compagnie du Québec (CAACQ) to transport Balto to Toronto for adoption, and Ruby will soon follow, providing she’s not adopted before the 18th. Kudos to the Hospital for trying so long to find them a family, and to CAACQ for their work in saving dogs through their program. (The cost of transport is about $470 per trip, so donations are always needed!)

UPDATE – JUNE 14TH : Bittersweet news, Ruby was finally adopted yesterday, and will not need to got to Toronto.

Fisa

Fisa

My friend’s brother just came home to Aylmer Quebec, from a 3 week vacation, to discover that the kennel where he left his beloved 7 year old mini poodle/chihuahua mix ‘Fisa” lost his dog three weeks ago! The family is just devastated!

The blog (link below) explains it all. Essentially the dog was kenneled at an SPCA which also offers boarding services. She was put outside in a dog run which wasn’t very secure for a 10 pound dog as there was a large gap between the gate and the ground, definitely enough space for her to escape. At the same time, since it’s also an adoption facility, a few cars came by looking to adopt but since it was Sunday and the shelter was closed, they were turned away. It’s possible that one of them spotted little Fisa and, wanting a dog,and assuming that she was up for adoption, may have ‘helped themselves’. No matter, Fisa has now been missing for 3 weeks and her family would desperately love to have her back home.

Please forward this to all of your contacts. Let’s get the word out and help get this little girl back to her family. Thanks.
