Daisy

Daisy

I lost my cat in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu (Iberville sector) on Curé St-Georges. Her name is Daisy, and she is 12 years old. She has a lion cut and a small scarf around her neck. It has claws on all 4. She is very affectionate and purrs loudly. She was let out on September 13, 2011, never to return.

Michia – the happy conclusion!

Michia

Finally, the happy conclusion to Michia’s story! I didn’t dare to update her post until she arrived safely in her new home. She was first lost in the Mile End area on September 14th of 2010, and posted here shortly after. Despite all the efforts on the part of Mary, Michia remained elusive. I updated the post in April of this year, but still there was no sign of her. Finally Mary had to move away, without news of her adored cat. But out of the blue, Michia turned up at the end of August as a found cat, signaled by Genevieve, who then found the post for Michia who was lost in the same area. After verification the match was confirmed! Because Mary was now living on Salt Spring Island, in British Columbia, the reunion couldn’t be made without some planning and a plane ride!

Here’s Mary’s update and photos of her in her new home!

Michia at home

Just sending along a few photos of our first days back together. Micha is feeling much better from the plane trip, and has been eating and drinking a lot! She seems to be very happy in our little cabin. I think she wants to go outside but I’m not going to let her out for another few weeks. Micha says hi and thanks you for all of your amazing help in brining her home.

What I take away from this story is that life moves in miraculous ways, sometimes it can do for us what we could never do for ourselves. I spent months looking for Micha, walking the streets and alleys around my house day and night, I met lots of cats and lots of cat-lovers, but I did not find my kitty. During that time, I became involved in activism to shut down the Berger Blanc, after visiting the place and sensing that it was not operating in the best interests of pets or of pet owners. Sadly, eventually I had to give up my search for Micha, because I did not believe I would ever find her. I never forgot about her, though, and felt sick to my stomach every time I thought about having to move away from Montreal without my cat! I missed her so much my heart ached.

I have become more involved in animal activism. in BC there is very strict animal abuse legislation. Animal cruelty is a criminal offence and someone who is cruel to an animal can spend up to 5 years in jail and be given a fine up to $75,000. My understanding is that these laws don’t exist yet in Quebec. This is a problematic scenario for animals and for the Quebec society. We must all work for changes that protect the welfare of animals. I am going to be volunteering at my local SPCA from now on.

Petluck is a great service and was able to help me in a friendly manner that I didn’t get from the Berger Blanc (who serviced my borough). You clearly really care about animals and about reuniting pets with their owners. Your site was an invaluable tool in brining my beloved cat home to me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you do and wish you many more success stories for the future!

Michia home

I hope that it won’t be my last long lost pet to get home. Something that can’t happen without the implication of the wonderful animal lovers of our city. Long live Michia!

Cat found in the Plateau

cat found in the Plateau-shaved

Hi, this cat has been coming around my back deck a lot in the last week. She (I think) has been shaved to look like a poodle, has a red colour, and is orange-beige. She seems fairly young (not a kitten, but definitely not an adult). She seems like she’s been outside for a bit (is fairly dirty) but also seems to have been a domestic cat at one point (is quite affectionate). I live on Gilford between Resther and St. Hubert. Thanks.

Hi, we lost our cat during a move, she is a grey Persian, 6 years old, with a electronic chip. We are living in Montreal downtown, corner Redpath/Docteur Penfield. We’ve already put a lot of pictures of her in the neighborhood, but no success so far. She was spotted in the Montreal Cemetery. Last week she had her body shaved (just the body, not the tail and the head).
